Lake Reflections

Church bells

Canada geese

Sweet summer sun

Green velvet hills

Memories of days gone by

Young

Carefree

No responsibility

I know feelings are there

If I stop

And reach out for them

Joy

Peace

My heart expanded

Full and warm

Connectedness to a part of me lost

In the canyon of caring

Birthing and grieving

New Zealand my home

Of many years

By default

I know not where I belong

Revisiting a past life

Like Narnia’s wardrobe

My children know little of

This secret garden of my heart

Where youth and folly reside

My heart divided

Money and miles

Sever me from this life

Where my roots go deep

I know not how

To bridge the divide

To reconcile the two.

Coots bobbing

White swans gliding

Ripples on the lake

Reflect a life gone by.

You can take the girl out of St. Albans

But not St. Albans out of the girl.
