Deep grieving
Of loves regret
Of your past lives lost
Of what you never had
Of what you could have been
The baby left to cry
The innocent child
The rebellious teen
Looking for love in all the wrong places
The parents that birthed you
The land that held you
The crises that nearly broke you
The shell you became
Trying to be who were not
Trying to please, soothe and fix
Trying to make someone love you
Trying to make sense of life
Whilst dying inside
Whilst paying the debts of your ancestors
All the while not feeling safe to be you
All the while anxious and not knowing it
All the while neurodiverse and not knowing it
All the while taking a toll on your nervous system
Slowly, slowly, the scales came off your eyes
Slowly, slowly, the tears washed away the pain
Slowly, slowly, you learnt to love yourself
Slowly, slowly, you learnt to appreciate your uniqueness
Slowly, slowly, you could laugh at yourself
Slowly, slowly, you could embrace all of your emotions
And the shame dried up
‘Coz it wasn’t getting fed.
And saw yourself as you truly are
‘Coz you had less judgement
Forever evolving
Forever learning
Forever loving
Being the best you can be
Good enough.
